Premium Polyurethane & PIR Sandwich Panels, Cold Storage Systems, and Industrial Refrigeration Solutions Engineered for Thermal Efficiency

The Mechanics of Thermal Containment: PU & PIR Sandwich Panels

Modern commercial warehousing, agricultural cold-chain distribution, and chemical cleanrooms demand uncompromising performance in thermal boundaries. PU (Polyurethane) and PIR (Polyisocyanurate) sandwich panels represent the pinnacle of thermal efficiency, combining low thermal conductivity with strong structural rigidity. As leading global manufacturers, Shaanxi YuanShengHeTong Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd. addresses the evolving needs of structural engineering, fire dynamics, and energy economics.

Polyurethane chemistry utilizes a highly cross-linked, closed-cell polymer structure. When integrated as the core insulation of sandwich panels, it restricts convective, conductive, and radiative heat transfer. By maintaining a closed-cell ratio exceeding 95%, our high-density panels retain their thermal properties over decades of operation. This whitepaper explains our design, material science, and engineering principles, showcasing how we deliver reliable containment for global cold chains.

Thermal Core Excellence

Utilizing high-density polyurethane (40–42 kg/m³) to achieve a thermal conductivity lambda value ($\lambda$) as low as 0.021 W/m·K. This ensures minimal temperature drift and significantly lowers refrigeration power consumption.

Structural Joint Integrity

Equipped with eccentric cam-lock structural hooks or double tongue-and-groove joints. The air-tight seals eliminate thermal bridging, preventing condensation, mold development, and envelope failure.

Fire Propagation Control

Providing advanced PIR core formulas matching the ASTM and European Class B-s1, d0 fire rating criteria. PIR forms a carbonized char layer under direct flame exposure to retard flame propagation.

China Factory 4.0: Supply Chain Resilience & Manufacturing Capacity

High-throughput continuous panel press systems and quality control infrastructure.

Operating out of our 60,000 square meter standardized production hub, our facility utilizes continuous automatic double-belt production technology. Unlike old, manual discontinuous molds, our automated lines provide uniform pressure and heating during the liquid polyurethane injection phase. This ensures even density distribution and helps prevent panel deformation over time.

With about 180 workers and 10 QC team, the quality and efficiency are guaranteed of our products. And we are always aiming for higher quality products and better service. Now, the factory has 4 standardized workshops, high quality and efficient production equipment, as well as advanced production lines and techniques. Our factory mainly produces PIR (Polyisocyanurate) and PU (Polyurethane) sandwich panels, cold storage doors, air coolers, condensers, condensing units, compressor units etc.

By sourcing raw steel coils and MDI chemicals from top suppliers (like Baosteel and Wanhua Chemical), we protect our supply chain from cost volatility. Our automated processes keep panel thickness tolerances within ±1mm and cut overall manufacturing lead times to 7–15 working days. This speed and precision support large global infrastructure projects.

Macro Industry Solutions & Thermal Isolation Layouts

Tailoring modular wall systems and cooling machinery to meet specialized industry requirements.

Agricultural Cold Chain

Optimized storage environments for fruits and vegetables. Balanced atmospheric systems use 100-150mm PU panels to control gas and moisture infiltration, maintaining produce quality and extending shelf life.

Cold Chain Logistics

High-traffic distribution facilities require robust wall systems. Our thick-skinned steel panels resist mechanical impacts and structural fatigue from frequent forklift operations and temperature variations.

Pharmaceutical Cleanrooms

Strict temperature and hygiene control. Cleanroom profiles feature flush ceiling designs, anti-microbial coatings, and fully sealed panel joints that prevent dust accumulation and air leakage.

Technology Roadmap & Future Development

Our commitment to sustainable development, greener raw materials, and next-generation insulations.

The global shift toward green building standards is transforming the industrial insulation sector. To meet these demands, we are upgrading our core polyurethane chemistry to use hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) as blowing agents instead of standard hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). This transition reduces the Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) to zero and lowers the Global Warming Potential (GWP) to under 1, helping our clients meet international environmental regulations.

We are also researching structural bio-resins that replace petroleum-derived polyols with soy or castor oil extracts. Additionally, we are developing smart wall panels with embedded micro-sensors. These sensors monitor temperature gradients, joint strain, and moisture levels in real time, alerting facility managers to insulation leaks before thermal failures can occur.

Historical Milestones & Engineering Evolution

Over two decades of growth, technological upgrades, and manufacturing expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical answers regarding material properties, mechanical values, installation, and procurement logistics.

1. What is the fundamental thermal advantage of PU over alternative insulation cores?
Polyurethane has low thermal conductivity (typically 0.020 W/m·K) compared to polystyrene (EPS) or rockwool (mineral wool). It achieves equal or better thermal resistance (R-value) at roughly half the physical thickness. This saves space in cold room facilities and lowers long-term refrigeration power consumption.
2. How does PIR differ from standard PU in fire performance?
PIR (Polyisocyanurate) is produced by reacting isocyanate at higher temperatures, creating stronger chemical bonds. PIR panels offer enhanced fire resistance, achieving B1 fire classification under national standards. Under direct flame, PIR forms a carbon char layer that blocks oxygen and slows flame spread, whereas standard PU panels (Class B2) burn faster.
3. What is the recommended panel thickness for sub-zero freezer applications?
Recommended panel thickness depends on your target operating temperature:
  • Chill Rooms (+0°C to +8°C): 75mm to 100mm PU Panels.
  • Freezer Rooms (-18°C to -25°C): 120mm to 150mm PU Panels.
  • Blast Freezers (-35°C to -45°C): 200mm PU Panels.
Selecting the correct thickness prevents moisture condensation and excessive compressor run-times.
4. How do cam-lock joints prevent moisture infiltration and thermal bridging?
Our panels feature embedded, corrosion-resistant cam-lock hooks spaced at regular intervals. During installation, these locks pull the male-female panel profiles together tightly. Combined with joint sealant or PVC gaskets, this connection creates an airtight seal that prevents moisture infiltration and stops frost from forming at the joints.
5. What face metal options are available for food-processing and pharmaceutical applications?
We provide pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGI) with food-safe polyester coatings, stainless steel (SUS304 or SUS316) for corrosive environments, and specialized anti-microbial coatings. These options stand up to daily chemical washdowns and high humidity without rusting or corroding.
6. What is the production capacity and lead time for large global projects?
Our automated facility features continuous manufacturing lines capable of producing over 5,000 square meters of high-density sandwich panels daily. Standard orders ship within 7 to 15 working days, depending on custom specifications like steel thickness or non-standard color requirements.
